It’s A Cinderella Story For A Mid-Century Golf Clubhouse

Dallas, TX (Oct. 4, 2023) – Project manager Nigel Robinson is carefully curating the grounds and facilities at The Golf Club of Dallas, ensuring members have quality facilities that match the storied club’s landscape. Robinson represents the Executive Business Office at Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship, who owns the course. Their project for 2023? Restore and protect the exterior of their buildings.
“The Golf Club of Dallas is a historic haven for those who love classic golf,” said Nigel. “It is an impressive facility built in the 1950s, and there is a certain air about this place members have and want to continue to possess. I believe we have some of the best greens in the DFW metroplex, and with the application of Rhino Shield, the building exterior can match that. Our members expect a high-level experience when they come into this facility, one that matches the level of golf course.”

Along with the member experience, Robinson talked about how hopeful he is to see the expected benefits of coating a building with Rhino Shield, namely the insulating properties for energy savings, mold and mildew resistance, and adhesion properties that resist peeling and flaking.
“I got asked, ‘Why Rhino Shield,’” said Robinson, “and that’s an easy answer. It’s a very compelling product. Rhino Shield’s benefits would be critically important additions for our facility. We have a large clubhouse, a food service facility, and a cart barn, so that is why a significant investment like Rhino Shield makes sense. Receiving a coating that should potentially protect the entire facility for more than two decades would be a game changer.”
Dallas-Fort Worth Rhino Shield Dealer Gary Zenobi consulted with Robinson on the job.
“I met with Gary multiple times regarding our facilities,” said Robinson. “As he reviewed the benefits, he helped me not to look at Rhino Shield as paint but rather a protective coating. We ended up coating all of our buildings so they could have the same protection as our clubhouse. Gary’s whole team did an exceptional job of walking us through the process, making sure we got the colors right, and explaining how the detailed prep work has to be done correctly to have the proper adhesion.”

The prep work involved several different substrates — brick, some stucco and wood.
“It’s all about the prep work,” said Zenobi. “The clubhouse was built in the mid-50s – it’s an older building that required a lot of TLC, but now it’s returned to its former glory and I believe it can still be around another 70 years with the proper maintenance. This is a treasure in Dallas — a beautiful course and facility that we were able to help make a little more appealing by applying the Rhino Shield coating system. It’s my hope this facility will last for future generations of golfers.”
Veteran-Owned and made in the U.S.A., Rhino Shield’s elastomeric-ceramic coating goes on 8-10 times thicker than conventional paint and is warrantied for 25 years. The newly updated formula takes their nano-technology to the next level.
